The Sabbath and the Kingdom

The Kingdom of HASHEM

is connected to the resurrection of the dead מחית המתים .

The resurrection of the dead is in turn connected

to the Sabbath שבת. This is because the resurrection

of the dead is totally the work of HASHEM.

There is nothing man can do. He has to rest

totally in the work of HASHEM.

The Shemoneh Esrei

puts all three of these together:

the resurrection of the dead, the Kingdom of HASHEM,

and the Shabbat.

In the second blessing of the first part,

the Gvoorah גבורה or Might of HASHEM

is put forth in the resurrection of the dead.

“You are eternally mighty, my Lord,

the Resuscitator of the dead are You;

abundantly able to save.

He sustains the living with mercy,

raises the dead with abundant compassion,

supports the fallen,

heals the sick,

releases the bound prisoners,

and maintains His faith to those

asleep in the dust.

Who is like You, O Master of mighty deeds,

and who is comparable to You,

O King Who puts to death,

and Who quickens and restores to life

and Who causes Yeshua to sprout

as Tsemach.

And You are Faithful

to resurrect the dead!

Blessed are You, HASHEM,

Who resurrects the dead!”

Here the Shemoneh Esrei

connects the Messiah and the Kingdom

to the resurrection of the dead

at the end of the Gvoorah גבורה blessing

with the words

‘(He) causes Yeshua to sprout as Tsemach.’

The connection of the resurrection of the dead

to the Kingdom is further sealed in the

thirteenth and the fourteenth blessings

of the Shemoneh Esrei, which are the

Rebuilding Jerusalem בנין ירושלים and

“And to Jerusalem, Your city,

may You return in compassion,

and may You rest within it,

as You have spoken.

May You rebuild it soon in our days

as an eternal structure,

and may You speedily establish

the throne of David within it.

Blessed are you, HASHEM,

the Builder of Jerusalem.”

The phrase ‘speedily establish the

throne of David within it’

indicates that Jerusalem cannot be

considered to be rebuilt unless an heir

of David sits on the throne.

The fourteenth blessing elaborates this fact

even more with greater detail.

The Tsemach of your servant David

may You speedily cause to flourish,

and exalt the horn of his power

in your Yeshua.

We hope for your Yeshua

all the day long.

Blessed are You, HASHEM,

Who causes to flourish as Tsemach

the horn of power of your Yeshua.

The Tsemach David

is a clear reference to the Messiah.

Zechariah 6:12.

“And speak to him, saying,

Thus speaks the L-RD of hosts, saying,

Behold the man whose name is

The BRANCH – TSEMACH;

and he shall grow up

out of his place,

and he shall build

the temple of HASHEM.”

The Tsemach David צמח דוד is

further identified as being Yeshua.

Yeshua’s name is mentioned three times

in this part of the Shemoneh Esrei שמונה עשרה .

The last time he is conclusively declared

as being Tsemach by the words

“Cause to spring forth as Tsemach

the horn of Yeshua.”

Here the title of Messiah

which is Tsemach צמח,

the horn of power of the Kingdom

of the Messiah which is keren קרן ,

and the Name of the Messiah

which is Yeshua ישועה

are all clearly identified

and bundled together in one

neat phrase which concludes

the blessing of the ‘Davidic Reign’

in the Shemoneh Esrei שמונה עשרה .

Yeshua himself declared that as the

Davidic Messiah he would be the

first to rise from the dead.

“Then he said to them,

Behold we go up to Jerusalem,

and all things that are written

by the prophets

concerning the Son of man

shall be accomplished.

For he shall be deliverd to the Gentiles,

and shall be mocked,

and spitefully entreated, and spit upon:

and they shall scourge him,

and put him to death:

And the third day

he shall rise again.”

This resurrection of the Messiah

is the firstfruits הבכורים

or the wave offering התנופה to HASHEM,

and it marks the beginning of the

great Shabbat of the Messianic Age.

Leviticus 23:20.

“And the Kohen shall wave them

with the bread of the firstfruits

for a wave offering before HASHEM.”

The Messiah משיח said that the

resurrection of the dead would consummate

the Shabbat שבת of the Messianic Age

and bring in the ‘Day which is all Shabbat’

This power to raise the dead

was the power given to him by HASHEM

because HE IS THE MESSIAH OF ISRAEL.

It is the power, or the horn,

of the Kingdom of David.

Yeshua the Messiah

himself declares:

“Truly, Truly, I say to you,

He that hears my word,

and believes on him who has sent me,

has everlasting life,

and shall not come into condemnation;

but is passed from death into life.

Truly, Truly, I say to you,

the hour is coming, and now is,

when the dead shall hear the voice

of the Son of G-d:

and they that hear shall live.

For as the Father has life in himself;

so has he given to the Son

to have life in himself.

And has given him authority

to execute judgment also,

because he is the Son of man.

Marvel not at this:

for the hour is coming,

in the which all that are in the graves

shall hear his voice,

and shall come forth;

they that have done good,

into the resurrection of life;

and they that have done evil,

into the resurrection of damnation.

For as the Father raises up the dead,

and quickens them with life,

even so the Son quickens

and gives life to whom he will.”

The words of Isaiah the Prophet

shall be confirmed by

the Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע

when he establishes the

Kingdom of David over Israel,

and over all the ends of the earth.

Isaiah 26:19.

“Your dead shall live,

together with my dead body shall they arise.

Awake and sing,

you who dwell in the dust:

for your dew is as the dew of herbs,

and the earth shall cast out the dead.”

And again the Prophet says

in Isaiah 25:7-8.

“And he shall destroy in this mountain

the face of the covering

cast over all people,

and the vail that is spread

over all nations.

He will swallow up death in victory;

and the L-rd HASHEM

will wipe away tears

from off all faces;

and the rebuke of his people

shall he take away

from off all the earth:

for HASHEM has spoken it.”

This is the Sabbath of HASHEM

in the hand of the Messiah Yeshua.
