The Messiah המשיח, the Sabbath השבת ,
and the Resurrection התחית המתים
are all intricately connected.
The Scriptures connect
them in a very profound and intimate way.
Psalm 21:2-3 describes Messiah המשיח
in very unique aspects:
“For you HASHEM go before him
with blessings of good;
you set a crown of gold
upon his head.
He asked life of you,
and you gave it to him,
even length of days forever and ever.”
כי תקדמנו ברכות טוב
תשית לראשו עטרת פז:
חיים שאל ממך נתתה לו
אורך ימים עולם ועד:
Here HASHEM gives the Messiah המשיח
the resurrection from the dead תחית המתים .
This is length of days forever and ever.
The crown of gold עטרת פז
is like Aaron’s crown.
Inscribed on it is
‘Holiness to HASHEM.’ קדוש ליהוה
Psalm 72:15,17 confirms
the resurrection of the Messiah תחית המשיח .
“And he shall live,
and to him shall be given
the gold of Sheba:
prayer also shall be made for him
continually; and daily
shall he be praised.
His name shall endure forever:
his name shall be continued
as long as the sun;
and men shall be blessed in him:
all nations shall call him blessed.”
ויחי
ויתן לו מזהב שבא
ויתפלל בעדו תמיד
כל היום וברכנהו:
יהי שמו לעולם
לפני שמש ינן שמו
ויתברכו בו
כל גוים יאשרהו:
Eternal life in the resurrection
is the attribute of the Messiah המשיח .
The Messiah המשיח sits
on the throne of David forever
as is prophesied in Psalm 89.
“Also I will make him my firstborn,
higher than the kings of the earth.
His seed also will I make
to endure for ever,
and his throne as the days of heaven.
His seed shall endure for ever,
and his throne
as the sun before me.
It shall be established forever
as the moon,
and as a faithful witness
in heaven. Selah”
אף אני בכור אתנהו
עליון למלכי ארץ:
ושמתי לעד זרעו
וכסאו כימי שמים:
זרעו לעולם יהיה
וכסאו כשמש נגדי:
כירח יכון עולם
ועד בשחק נאמן סלה:
A second attribute of the Messiah המשיח
is again found in Psalm 21,
this time in verse 1:
“The king shall joy
in your strength, O HASHEM.”
יהוה בעזך ישמח מלך:
This is an attribute of the Shabbat שבת .
In Isaiah 58:13-14 it is written:
“If you turn away your foot
from the Sabbath,
from doing your pleasure
on my holy day;
and call the Sabbath a delight,
the holy of HASHEM honorable,
not doing your own ways,
nor finding your own pleasure,
nor speaking your own words,
Then shall you delight yourself in HASHEM;
AND I WILL CAUSE YOU TO RIDE
UPON THE HIGH PLACES OF THE EARTH,
and feed you with the heritage
of Jacob your father:
for the mouth of HASHEM
has spoken it.”
אם תשיב משבת רגלך
עשנת חפצך ביום קדשי
וקראת לשבת עונג
לקדוש יהוה מכבד
וכבדתו מעשות דרכיך
ממצוא חפצך
ודבר דבר:
אז תתענג על יהוה
והרכבתיך על במותי ארץ
והאכלתיך נחלת יעקב אביך
כי פי יהוה דבר:
We see the Messiah המשיח
did not come to do his own will
in Psalm 45:7-8
“Then I said
behold, I come:
in the volume of the book
it is written of me,
I delight to do your will , O MY G-D,
yes, your law is within my heart.”
אז אמרתי
הנה באתי
במגלת ספר כתוב עלי:
לעשות רצונך אלהי חפצתי
ותורתך בתוך מעי:
The Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע said
“Not my will רצוני, but your will רצונך
be done, HASHEM.”
He also said
“I do nothing except my Father
shows me to do it first.”
The Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע
was walking continuously in the
Shabbat of HASHEM שבת יהוה.
He did the works of the Messiah המשיח
that had been prophsied
in Psalm 145:14.
“HASHEM upholds all that fall,
and makes straight all
that are bowed over.”
סומך יהוה לכל הנופלים
וזוקף לכל הכפופים:
These works are continued
in Psalm 146:7-8.
“He executes judgment
for the oppressed:
he gives food to the hungry.
HASHEM looses the prisoners:
HASHEM opens the eyes of the blind,
HASHEM raises up those
who are bowed over.
HASHEM loves the righteous.”
עשה משפט לעשוקים
נתן לחם לרעבים
יהוה מתיר אסורים:
יהוה פוקח עורים
יהוה זוקף כפופים
יהוה אוהב צדיקים:
The Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע
opened the eyes of the blind,
made those who were bowed over
to stand up straight,
fed the hungry with a few loaves of bread,
and cast out devils
who were holding people prisoners.
He did all these things as he saw
his Father instruct him beforehand.
This is to fulfill the prophecy
of Isaiah the Prophet in
Isaiah 61:1.
“The Spirit of THE L-RD HASHEM
רוח אדני יהוה
is upon me;
because HASHEM has anointed me
to preach good tidings
to the meek;
he has sent me to bind up
the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison
to them that are bound;
to proclaim the acceptable year
of the will of HASHEM.”
רוח אדני יהוה עלי
יען משח יהוה אתי
לבשר ענוים
שלחני לחבש לנשברי לב
לקרא לשבוים דרור
ולאסורים פקח קוח:
לקרא שנת רצון ליהוה:
The characteristic of the Shabbat
is that HASHEM completed or perfected
all his work.
This is recorded in Genesis 2:1
“Thus the heavens and the earth
were completed and perfected,
and all the host of them.”
ויכולו השמים והארץ וכל צבאם:
The Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע
completed and perfected
all the work of HASHEM
by his sacrifice and resurrection.
“But this man,
after he had offered
one sacrifice for sins for ever,
sat down on the right hand of HASHEM.
For by one offering
he has perfected forever
those who are sanctified.”
אבל זה האיש
לאחר שהקריב קרבן אחד
על החטאים
ישב לימין האלהים לתמיד
שכן בקרבן אחד השלים
לתמיד את המקדשים:
“But the Messiah המשיח
being come a high priest
of good things to come,
by a greater and more perfect tabernacle,
not made with hands,
that is to say, not of this building,
neither by the blood
of goats and calves,
but by his own blood
he entered in once
into the holy place,
having obtained
eternal redemption for us.”
אבל המשיח בבואו להיות
כוהן גדול לטובות העתידות
עבר במשכן גדול
ומושלם יותר שאינו
מעשה ידים
בלומר שאינו שיך לבריאה הזאת
ובדמו הוא
ולא בדם שעירים ועגלים
נכנס אחת ולתמיד
אל הקודש הקודשים
והשיג לנו פדות עולמים:
“For by the will of HASHEM רצון יהוה
we are made holy
by the offering of the body הגוף
of the Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע
once and for all.
And being made perfect,
the Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע
became the author
of eternal salvation
to them who obey him.”
ובדרך הרצון יהוה
אנחנו נהיה קודשים
על ידי הקרבת
גופו של ישוע המשיח
פעם אחת ולתמיד:
והמשיח כאשר השלם
היה למקור חיים
וישועת עולמים
לכל המציתים לו:
“For it is evident that the Messiah המשיח
sprang out of Judah
of which tribe Moses spoke nothing
concerning the priesthood.
And it is yet far more evident:
for after the likeness of Melchizedck
there arises another priest,
who is made, not after the law
of a carnal commandment,
but out of the power
of an endless life.”
הן גלוי וידוע
שהמשיח צמח מיהודה
שבט אשר משה לא דבר עליו
דבר בענין כהנה:
וזה ברור עוד יותר כאשר
בדומה למלכי צדק
קם כהן אחר
שהיה לכהן לא על פי
חוקים התלויה בבשר ודם
אלא מתוקף כוח החיים
שאין להם הפסק:
“We have, therefore, brothers,
boldness to enter
into the holiest by
the blood of the Messiah Yeshua.
דם של המשיח ישוע
And as it is appointed to men
once to die
but after this the judgment:
so the Messiah המשיח was
once offered
to bear the sins of many;
and to them who look for him,
he shall appear the second time,
without sin unto salvation.”
לכן אחים מכיון
שיש לנו בטחון להכנס
אל הקודש
בדם ישוע:
וכשם שנגזר על בני אדם
למות פעם אחת
ואחרי כן המשפט
כך גם המשיח
אחרי שהקרב עצמו פעם אחת
לשאת חטאי רבים
יופיע שנית
שלא לענין החטא
למחכים לו לישועה:
For the Holy Spirit of HASHEM
also is a witness to us,
for in that he spoke
through Jeremiah the Prophet, saying,
“This is the covenant
that I will make with them
after those days, says HASHEM,
I will put my laws into their hearts,
and in their minds
I will write them;
And their sins and iniquities
I will remember no more.”
וגם כן הרוח הקודש
מעידה לנו על זאת
בנבואות של ירמיה הנביא
כי לאחר שאמר
זאת הברית אשר אכרת אתם
אחרי הימים ההם נאם יהוה
נתתי את תורתי בקרבם
ועל לבם אכתבנה:
ולעונם ולחטאתם לא אזכר עוד:
As a result of all of this
comes the great expectation
of our own personal resurrection
through the Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע .
“Our place of citizenship and dwelling
is in heaven,
from whence we earnestly expect
our Messiah משיח and King מלך ,
the Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע,
who shall change the
scheme and the fashion
of this frail, lowly body,
and conform it to
the body of his glory,
according to the energy
of the explosive power by which
he subdues all things to himself.”
בשבילנו המאמינים
אזרחותנו בשמים היא:
משם גם יבוא מושיע
אשר מחכים אנו לו
האדון ישוע המשיח
אשר יחליף
את גופנו הנחות
ויעשהו דומה
לגופו ההדור כבוד
כפי כוח יכלתו
לשעבד אליו את הכל:
“For we know that if this earthly house
of this tabernacle were dissolved,
we have a building of HASHEM,
a house not made with hands,
eternal in the heavens.
For in this we groan,
earnestly desiring to clothed upon
with our house which is from heaven:”
אנחנו יודעים שאם
יהרס בית משכננו הארצי
יש לנו בנין מאת אלהים
בית שאינו מעשה ידים
והוא בשמים לעולמים:
הן בזה במשכננו הארצי
נאנחים אנו
ועזים כסופינו ללבש
גם את ביתנו
אשר מן השמים:
“If so be that being clothed,
we shall not be found naked.
for we who are in this tabernacle
do groan, being burdened.
not for that we would be unclothed,
but clothed upon,
that mortality might be
swallowed up of life.
Now he who has wrought us
for the selfsame thing is HASHEM,
who also has given to us
the earnest of his HOLY SPIRIT רוח הקודש .”
אם אמנם נמצר עוד
לבושים ולא ערומים
כי גם בהיותנו במשכננו כעת
נאנחים אנו מכבד המשא:
שהרי איננו חפצים להתפשט
אלא להוסיף לבוש באופן
שהכפוף למות יבלע
על ידי החיים:
ואלהים הוא אשר
הכין אותנו לכך
ונתן לנו את ערבון
הרוח הקודש:
The resurrection body is the
eternal inheritance of all
who trust in the Messiah Yeshua,
the Messiah of Israel.
